What is Freshwater fishing?

Freshwater fishing takes place in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams and other body of water with a salinity of less than 0.05%.  Freshwater fishing is ideal for beginners as it only requires a simple tackle setup and most fishing spots are relatively easy to access.

Freshwater species include some of the most popular gamefish such as bass, trout, and catfish.  However, it is also common for avid sports anglers to travel to exotic locations in search of challenging freshwater gamefish that can grow to sizes that rival some of the biggest saltwater species.
